Weekly update – 28th June 2024

Let’s start this week’s round up with some fast track action an Nuneaton’s Night of 100 PBs where Chyloh McKenzie claimed a win in his heat in 11.93, Samantha Agomoh was 4th, but 1st lady, in the same race in 12.79. Chyloh had another go in a second heat and crossed the line first in this one too in 11.85.

There was more track action at the Birchfield Games where La-Taunya Samuels was 2nd in her heat over 100 in 12.52, Miguel Francis won his heat over 100 in 10.41, and Lattie was 6th over 200 in 25.78. and Gary Worral competed in the Midland Masters Track & Field Championships placing 7th over 800 in the M35 age group in 2.07.66.

There was some weapons related fun in the latest edition of the Black Country Hammerfest. The previous incarnations have been held on our own patch at Aldersley, this time the throwing was at Telford where Amelia Hancock won her event throwing the hammer 42.13, Venios Abdullah was 2nd (1st U17) with 39.65 and Georgina Neilson completed a clean sweep of the podium places for the club with 38.74 for 3rd place. The second heat was a repeat of the first with Amelia winning with a throw of 41.11, Venios improved her distance with 40.59 and Georgina was 3rd with 37.37. Ethan Kendrick was 5thin round 1 with 52.86, but claimed 1st U17, he then repeated the feat in round 2 with another 5th place and 1stu17 with an improvement of 53.23.

And there was action on the tarmac in Warwickshire where Dan Turner finished 5th in the Leamington Spa Half Marathon in 1.16.51. Elsewhere, Steve Newman placed 36th in the Stone St Michaels 10k in 38.53 and Dave Owen placed 248th in 53.58.
